Roadmap to Referencing

About this resource

The resource was developed to address the difficulty students have identifying or recognising the type of source that they want to reference, which in turn prevents them from following the conventions of a referencing system. There are many resources available that show how to reference and this resource does not duplicate them, instead it provides a sound educative and interactive approach that begins with helping students to recognise the type of source material, and then refers them to the existing Harvard author-date referencing system for help with referencing.

The resource is the result of a collaborative project between the LTU Language and Learning team (for Health Sciences and Widening Participation) and the Academic Library team for the Division of Health Sciences. It is based on the model developed by Portsmouth University.
